Welcome to The Old Coach House at Aughton set in the rural backwaters of East Yorkshire and yet only 15 miles from the centre of historic York
Peace and tranquillity awaits you....... make yourself at home !
in the secluded settings of The Old Coach House located at the end of a small hamlet overlooking fields and the River Derwent. The valley is a bird watcher’s paradise especially during the Winter months when the River Derwent floods its banks and the surrounding fields go under water, attracting thousands of overwintering wetland birds.
The property is set in an historically important site closely associated with Henry VIII and the Pilgrimage of Grace with the village church in the field next door.
The lanes around the hamlet are quiet with a good network of paths and as the area is very flat, is a popular walking and cycling area. The Yorkshire Wolds, which are criss crossed with footpaths and bridleways, is a short drive away and ideal for serious walkers and mountain bikers.
There is easy access into York with its magnificent Minster, Jorvik Viking Centre, National Railway Museum. The city has some excellent museums, medieval buildings and streets, festivals, galleries, theatres, shops & restaurants. The best way to make the most of a visit to York is to travel into the centre on the Park and Ride and the nearest one is 13 miles from Aughton and very easy to access.
